Qualifications

Our GCSE in Food Preparation and Nutrition, delivered in partnership with Tutors & Exams, equips students with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to explore food science, nutrition, and practical cooking at a deeper level. This course is ideal for young people passionate about food, health, and wellbeing — whether for life skills or as a pathway into further education and careers in the food and hospitality industries.

Course Overview
Running from September to June, this annual course is delivered online via Google Classroom and includes:

• 30 weekly online sessions
• A bank of video tutorials and briefs
• 2 in-person practical cookery sessions held at Worship Worth Experiences
• Weekly theory and practical homework to be submitted via Google Classroom

What You’ll Learn
The course content aligns with the Key Stage 3 National Curriculum and OCR’s GCSE requirements, covering:
• Nutrition: Explore the relationship between diet, nutrition, and health. Learn how to adapt recipes for different dietary needs.
• Food Science & Choice: Understand ingredients, provenance, food choices, and the impact of food production.
• Cooking & Food Preparation: Discover the scientific principles of food preparation, kitchen safety, and hygiene.
• Cookery Skills: Master a range of practical cooking techniques and equipment handling.

Assessments
The qualification includes two Non-Examined Assessments (NEAs):
• A Food Investigation Task
• A Food Preparation Task
